Deshae Gehr

Deshae grew up in Colorado before attending the University of Denver where she completed a BS in Biology and BA in Economics. In undergrad, she merged a variety of interests, exploring complex topics like health equity and resource allocation, ultimately completing thesis work focused on social and structural determinants of health within Colorado counties. She then pursued an MBA with the goal of tackling pressing health equity issues systemically through understanding economic implications. She worked in program management for 5 years before attending medical school at KPSOM in 2021. While she still hopes to focus on health systems redesign in her career, she believes that understanding both the micro, patient-centric and macro, systems-wide perspectives is critical in bringing about meaningful change. Through her medical training she hopes to be a advocate in ensuring the relevant voices are represented, and in elevating their voices at the decision-making tables.
